Sweet Hope Suite by Carl Groves I. Eternity in Our Hearts Eternity in our hearts a rising, distant mist A cleft in the surface of life Bathe and breathe in the sky make love to the night And questions in tears are lost in the stars Of answers we’re whet tacit secrets afar But I’m here for a reason! At least I’d like to believe And chasing the wind dim hope tight we cleave The dried leaf of the ancient wails to my clenched eyes through my lids I see shadows nothing sure when I open in the distance a hill but better to wait than to climb II. And We Wait
And we wait
And we wait An ethereal reaching constant cries of beseeching Disregarding the teaching You still wait! See it’s all there before you up the hill there’s a door through which the joy can’t be more true But you wait! III. The Hill of Peace "And this One shall be peace" Who says peace is a man? A place? It’s not in man to direct his steps it seems better to wait than to climb For the grade appears craggy With pitfalls and footfalls, waterfalls and bloodfalls--blood falls? The slope presents daunting--I’ll wait Strange it seems like this hill it walks with me I can’t go around it’s behind me And the orbs of its skull pierce my hands and my feet Like doors slammed denied is retreat If only I stare the heavens declare --see it’s all there before you! Timid stepping, the steps come more easily, easily --up the hill there’s a door through Pitfalls aren’t deep, footfalls don’t hurt --which the joy can’t be more true! The mist cools my cheek as it fades ...and it’s better to climb than to wait A cleft in the surface of life Bathe and breathe in the sky Make love to the night |
